Apart from his deadpan delivery and solemn face, Doug employs no gimmicks, but simply stands at the microphone and delivers a cleverly written stream of patter, most of it created from his observations of society - this vitriol being all the more effective for its sneering but calm delivery. Doug is interactive with his audience telling about his motoring experiences-his wife-children-pets and his visit to the doctor and chemist.....and his passion for football with material that is particularly appreciated by supporters clubs across the UK….
Doug honed his act working in the clubs in the North East and North West of England and in Holiday Camps for several years while living in Liverpool in the 1990s.

In 2000, the legendary American entertainer Sonny King introduced Doug on to his show at the famous Bootleggers Restaurant in Las Vegas. Sonny King was a showbiz buddy of Sinatra and the rat pack; it was Sonny King who introduced Dean Martin to Jerry Lewis and for 27 years he was a stage partner of Jimmy Durante.
In 2004 Doug performed as a platform artiste for the Chuck Colson Christian Prison Ministry in some of the toughest jails in Detroit Michigan USA. Doug even managed to make guys on death row laugh....seriously!
